I was doing my publishing research and found this website that's supposed to help with finding literary agents.

www.agentquery.com

I checked it out and I must say I rather liked what I saw thus far. It has a really awesome feature that lets you narrow down your search to the kind of agents you're looking for. It also helps you sort out those agents currently looking to take on new clients. But... a part of me is rather wary because it's so dang easy to use and it's free, where as most sites meant to help you find an agent have been the kind of places you have to subscribe to (as in pay money).

So I'm wondering if anyone has heard of it, whether they heard good or bad things about it, if they tried it out and what the results were.

ETA: Oh, and it actually tells you how to write a query letter, something that no amount of Googling and sifting through various literary related places could tell me. I am seriously loving this site.

Oh, yesssss! The instructor of a writing course that I took a couple of years ago pointed me to it. She's a professional author and she used the site when she had to find a new agent for her latest novel; she said it's really good and comprehensive, and I liked what I saw when I was looking around the site for info on how to write a query letter. I totally plan to use it when I get ready to find an agent for my urban fantasy novel. :D

It really is flippin' awesome :D (I just found Jim Butcher's agent!) I'm loving how it tells you everything you need to know about getting an agent - what you need to do and what to expect and all that. Stuff I had to Google for one piece at a time.

Looks good. They seem to be appropriately fussy about ethics when it comes to what agents they will list. Be sure to read the Beware of Scammers page. The other thing to do, based on this http://hollylisle.com/questions-about-literary-agents/ is to work with an agent that has represented authors that you've heard of.

It is indeed a reputable site, recced by many published authors as a valuable resource. You still need to do your research on the individual agents, but generally is a good starting point.
