My feelings on this being the final season are rather mixed. Because, on the one hand, I just got into this show, dang it! And it's over already?
On the other, it's not often a show has the grace to call it quits. One of my fears for Merlin had been that it would drag on and on to that point where you wish it had ended several seasons back. Yes, a part of me wishes there would be more Merlin, but another part would rather have it end than reach "the point." And trying to watch new episodes in order not to be tortured by spoilers was becoming a lot of pointless stress I didn't need :/
Then there are the actors. One thing I despise about shows going off the air is trying to follow the actors to their next projects... if they have any. Some actors seem to "disappear." Others either seem to resign themselves to guest spots on various shows, rather crappy Syfy type movies (or just crappy movies, period), or R-rated stuff (I don't watch R-rated stuff, you see).
Then again, most of the cast of Merlin are young - some still in their twenties. And they're good. Very good. So I have a lot of hopes for them, most especially Colin. Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't long before he had himself another series or even ended up in movies. The boy has skills.
So, yeah, I'm a bit all over the place about this - a little sad, a little not-so-sad, mostly I-don't-know. I think my main concern is what the actors will do next, and whether they're going to be in something worthy of their skills, end up as just another guest star or end up in something that makes you lament their career. It's times like these I wish I'd been a screenwriter than an Author, because I would so write them movies to be in (yes, especially Colin;)).
