See, this is the problem with trying to follow someone in their acting career, especially someone who lives across the pond and really likes plays. They end up in this really interesting stuff you want to see like burning, and you either can't or have to wait an eternity for it to be on DVD. Thank goodness for reviews, pics and people kind enough to provide snippets, that's all I've got to say. The Tempest looks awesome and I'm so glad there's plans to put it on DVD, and not just because Colin is in it. There's certain Shakespeare plays I really want to either read or, preferably, see and the Tempest has been one of them. That Colin is in it has now made the desire a wee bit of an obsession (because nothing makes you pay close attention to a Shakespeare play like having a favorite actor in it. I saw David Tennant's performance of Hamlet and so fell in love with Hamlet).

Did I mention it looks awesome? And from all the reviews, it sounds awesome as well. I know people have been iffy about Colin's costume but I think it's pretty cool. There's no denying that he's a spirit (he's playing Ariel). And from what I hear of his performance... yeah, I want to see it. I want to see it something fierce.

On another similar but different note...

Okay, so I talked about Colin gaining some muscle and not being the bony little thing he used to be in another post. With The Tempest have come lots of gushing about how fit and Athletic Colin is (his part is quite a physical one with him leaping about and climbing things - which makes me wonder how exhausted he must be afterwards), and before that much gushing about how muscular he is. And it's made me think back to my SGA days, and how a lot of us Sheppard fans were rather smitten by Joe's svelt-ness to the point that we often exaggerated it (all those anorexia fic, the team constantly making sure Sheppard ate, etc). And I can't help thinking that had Colin the physique he has now all throughout Merlin, us Merlin fans would probably have done the same. Merlin still would have been considered skinny, and I have no doubts there would have been a plethora of not-eating-properly fic as well. Because he may have gotten some muscle but he's still really slender, the kind of slender that - had Colin not been so skinny beforehand and so created a contrast between then and now - people would have taken as him being really skinny. And I guess I find it kind of amusing that here we have Sheppard/Joe and his fans seeing his leanness as uber-skinny (even during season three when he was really muscular) and Colin who people go on about being muscular when he's pretty dang slender (and I know why they do, because Colin was rather anorexic looking back in the day, but I still find it funny how we fans can get a little overzealous about things).
