Yeah, now I finally see it.
My sister borrowed The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift from a friend. When I first saw it previewed when it was in theaters, my immediate reaction was "meh," mostly because I wasn't all that thrilled with the first movie (and wasn't fond of the sequel, either.) But after finally seeing it on DVD, I must say that I absolutely loved it. I'm a sucker for movies that involve car chases and/or races (Gone in sixty Seconds and the Italian Johb rank high on my Car-chase please-o-meter) and the stuff they did in Drift was awesome with an escape scene that really did have me on the edge of my seat (i.e. couch). It even had a nice story to it beyond mere car racing (okay, so a bit of a cliche story - tough, reckless kid learning to take responsibility - but endearing all the same.) But I will admit that it was the racing, and the cars, that wowed me.
Some girls like their romantic comedies with fluff and mush, but give me fast cars and kick-butt car chase scenes. I blame it on Canonball Run and the Blues Brothers. Well, and possibly every action flick I've ever seen that involved some type of a car-chase scene.
This also goes to show that you should never judge a movie by its previews alone.
