Can I pick two? In any case, number 1 and 7 are the most interesting questions to me;-)

Sure! :D

I think the one I'm most proud of was this one I wrote in the Stargate Atlantis fandom called Of Coloring Books and LT. Colonels, and not just because it was so well received. It had actually been a bit of a step outside my comfort zone, completely focused on the aftermath without including what led up to it. It was also the first time I let a story just flow from me rather than sit down and meticulously plan it. I had an idea, started writing and kept writing until it was done, and it was a massive surprise when it ended up receiving over a hundred reviews.

D'awwwww.... while I found you thanks to your CSI New York fics, Of Coloring books was one of my favorites:-) I loved the way you portrayed John and the people around him, their reactions to the situation, especially Rodney's. Ooh, and now I wanna read some good whump fic, so I'm off to check your stories and recs;-)

He was an odd fellow, a young fellow dressed as dapper as a skinny man living in an alley could dress, his brown top hat frayed and brown jacket faded and stained. He walked with a cane, because that was what proper gentlemen of high society did - walk with canes - except his cane was a stick with a bent end, as chipped and worn as the young man who carried it.

And yet he always had a smile on his face and a greeting on his lips as though everyone who passed by him - be they person of wealth or a fellow vagabond - as though each and every one of them were someone of importance. But try to speak to him and he would blush and look away, bashful and timid but grateful none the less.

People called him mad and said that he needed to be locked away. I called him beautiful.

(And now I totally want to go somewhere with this).

Mhm, maybe it's a White Collar AU waiting to be written;-) Or are you more in a mood for an Original ficcie?

Hmm, how about #4?

Date: 2014-02-16 12:49 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
Hmmm...

Kindness, I think, would probably be my top most favorite. People showing kindness to others, especially if the "other" is a relative stranger.

Another favorite is rising above one's tribulations and not letting those tribulations pull us under.

The theme of how anyone can be a hero and do great things, whether it's saving the world or saving yourself. It's why I love underdog characters so much - the more underdog the better :D

And, of course, friendship. I love themes of friendship so much.

Number 8?

Date: 2014-02-16 01:31 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
Ohhh, tricky one. Hmmm...

Heh, surprisingly enough, although I was a Sheppard fan, I actually really enjoyed writing McKay. He was just... fun to write.

As for a character I like writing the least... I did have issues with writing Mozzie at first, but he eventually grew on me and I ended up really enjoying writing him. I don't think there was ever a character I didn't like writing, to be honest.

Well, no, that's not true. I've yet to write villain!Morgana. I think, like most people, I prefer good Morgana over bad Morgana. But I think it also has more to do with wanting to create my own villains rather than settling for the canon villain. Still, I've never had a desire to write villain!Morgana and doubt I ever will.

12.

Maybe you can answer this one, WHY is Sheppard so fun to write and to whump?

Date: 2014-02-17 08:43 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
Because he's friggin' hot! :D

Heh, okay, but, seriously, I've actually pondered this quite a bit myself. I mean, there's guys in other shows that I find attractive yet I have no desire to whump them. I think it comes down to there being something about that character - something inexplicable (or explicable were I to really, really think long and hard about it, but my mind wanders too easily for that kind of pondering), possibly something we relate to or something about their personality that draws us to them and makes us want to write them. The whumping, I think, also comes down to individual preferences. I love comfort more than hurt, so of course it's my favorite character that I want to see comforted. Some people like the hurt aspect, and like it when it's their favorite character being hurt.

And I think despite Sheppard's devil-may-care persona there is quite a bit of woobiness and vulnerability to him that makes him so easy to whump (and, good gravy, the puppy dog eyes. The man has puppy dog eyes twenty-four seven, I swear). There's also just something about taking a strong person and breaking them down then building them back up again - not our of some sick sense of joy over breaking strong people, but to show that these people are human, and that just because someone acts strong on the outside doesn't mean they don't have their breaking points. And I'm a sucker for showing that all characters are human and have their weaknesses, as well as showing that traumas can be overcome, they just take time. Sheppard was really excellent when it came to overcoming hardships and trauma. At least to me he was.

this got a bit rambly, sorry ^^;

Heh, just had another thought. Or more like a realization.

The thing about Sheppard is that he's the kind of guy that keeps going no matter what, despite having quite a bit happen in his life that should have torn him down by now. And I think I may be drawn to characters like that. For example, Vin from M7 was an orphan and exiled after being accused of a murder he didn't commit, yet he was still a pretty happy and loyal guy. In my recent fandom, Merlin, Merlin is constantly going through all kinds of crap and suffering all kinds of losses yet he keeps going, keeps trying, even keeps smiling. That kid does not give up.

And yet with all three we still see the vulnerable and unhappy side of them. We're shown, subtly for some and blatantly for others, that while they're able to keep going they're not invincible, and I love exploring their vulnerable sides :D

One of the best things about Sheppard was his flaws. A hero needs to also be human.

Well answered!!

ooh, fun! I may have to put this on my LJ as well and see if anyone bites ;)

How about #11?

Date: 2014-02-17 08:31 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
Wordiness and repetition tend to be my writing vices. The former is usually because I'm trying too hard to either be clever or wax poetic, and the latter because I either forget that I had already explained something or feel that I haven't made something clear so need to explain it again.

I also tend to forget to include all for senses when describing a place, usually smell, I don't know why.

hmm.. sounds familiar. Its why I wrote drabbles for a long time to try to combat being very verbose. ;)

Thanks! Great meme, posted it on my LJ as well :)

Heh, I actually already answered this for Frith_in_thorns but I did have more thoughts on it later on. Oddly enough I always seem to enjoy writing the characters I'm not a big fan of. McKay in SGA, for example, even though Sheppard is my favorite. Or Arthur in Merlin even though Merlin is my favorite. But I like outside POVs of my favorite characters, and love my favorite characters being comforted. There's also something... easier, I guess, about writing the characters you're not as invested in (don't ask me why).

I don't think there's a character I dislike writing, but there are characters I have a hard time writing. Oddly and sadly enough, I find Merlin to be a bit tricky at times, I think due to his somewhat duel personality. He's a smart, clever kid but has to play the idiot in front of Arthur, and that's difficult for me to write because I love that Merlin is, in fact, incredibly clever, and I feel so bad for him most of the time. It's why I focus so heavily on the Merlin woobiness, because if anyone needs a lot of comfort after the hurt, it's him.
