The problem with fanfic is that it'll sometimes make you want fic that either doesn't exist or that involves tropes you don't really like to read about. I hate non-con stuff, but I see these summaries for these non-con fic in which A rapes B yet B still falls in love with A. Or character B is raped and character A makes it better with seeex! And it makes me want fic that goes in the completely opposite direction, in which B is not kosher with any of it and wants nothing to do with A, or in which all the non-con hurt is not magically fixed with more sex.
Alas, I've yet to find such fic. Because Heaven forbid the non-con leads to actual trauma in which the victim hates their rapist. Most of it would probably be uber explicit, anyway, because Heaven forbid we only focus on the aftermath.
I've also been tempted to write fic in which character A attempts to seduce character B, but character B is having none of it (but I tend to be held back by things like not having a clue how to write such fic, not seeing character A as being that way - and in the case of the story going in a more dark direction - not wanting to write character A in such a less-than-flattering light).

I mean, most people are realistic enough to know the difference between what's real and what's fiction, but then you get those people that kind of make you wonder. Plus the problem with fandom is that people will become incredibly accepting and supportive of just about any kind of trope or kink if it means satisfying their particular kink, and will go so far as to justify why that kink is harmless (age-difference fic, I'm looking at you). And I think that kind of justification can end up warping people's perceptions over time and blur the lines of what's acceptable and what isn't.
