Happy New Year.
Yay.
Heh, can you tell I'm not a big fan of New Years ;) Not because it's a new year, but because I find the months from January until April to be rather... er... dull. Especially after all the excitment of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's not unlike coming down off a sugar high, really. Oh, and we're going to have to take down the tree. I always get a little melancholy when we take down the Christmas tree.
That said I do enjoy the prospect of a whole new years in which who knows what will happen (hopefully lots of good, wonderful things and good, wonderful surprises - *crosses fingers* And please not something akin to 2013 *really crosses fingers.* My word that was a horrible year for me).
I'm not so much a New Years resolution person as I am a goals person, and my goal for this year basically comes down "Get known as an author and get my books noticed." I have the web seriel I mentioned in another post I'm going to do, plus a second novel I'm going to self-publish, but I'm also hoping to start on my massive epic fantasy that's been well over ten years in the making. But, mostly, I need to advertise myself more, and mostly figure out how to advertise myself more (because, frankly, I've been doing a terrible job at it). So you'll probably see quite a few posts from me either discussing ideas or asking for advice and opinions, the latter especially. I'm also going to try and make it a habit of talking about various projects and works about to become available, both on this journal and my author journal (as I'm calling it).
And now I really need to go to bed.

Date: 2015-01-01 09:14 am (UTC)From:Heyyyyyy, would you like to do an interview (mostly promoting Toymaker, unless you have something else you'd rather promote!) for my blog? I'm going to be trying to push my realname author blog harder in 2015, and one of the things I'm planning to do is a regular Monday feature talking about writing and books (mine and other peoples!). I would love to have an interview with you on there. :D

Date: 2015-01-02 01:01 am (UTC)From:And that's interesting you should ask because I'd been pondering doing an ad for Kismet on my author site. I want to do more book reviews, book recs and something along the lines of "authors and works to watch out for," especially for independent authors and works. So I'd love to be able to do something for your web comic. All I would need is an image or snippet and a link, if you're interested.

Date: 2015-01-02 04:30 am (UTC)From:Regarding the interview, I'll send you some questions. :) What I'm planning to do is have book/writing-related posts on my author blog on Mondays, including interviews -- I've got an interview already for Jan. 12 (another writer friend) and I didn't really want to do two interviews in a row, so I'll aim for having yours towards the end of Jan, maybe? And I'll send you some questions in the next couple of days. :) I was going to target the interview mostly at Toymaker, unless there is something else you'd specifically like me to ask about. I also wanted to post a couple pictures of your Toymaker tie-in creatures!

Date: 2015-01-06 04:46 am (UTC)From:I had remembered that you'd actually made a couple of the creatures in the book, or things like them -- physical sculptures, I mean. Am I getting mixed up about that?
Also, is there anything specific about Toymaker you want me to ask you? :D It'll just be fairly general questions otherwise (of the "what's the book about" variety, the worldbuilding, etc), but if there's some particular thing you want to talk about, I can gear some of the questions to that ...

Date: 2015-01-06 06:34 pm (UTC)From:Um... I can't think of anything in particular I'd want to be asked. But I'm also one of those authors who have a hard time talking about my books. Not because I don't want to talk about them, I just never know what to say. ^^;
I'll send the pictures with the questions so that everything is in one place (because I don't know about you but I'm forever misplacing emails).
