*Happy sigh* I love movies like this.

But, man, waiting to see this movie was such a pain. I used to be neither here nor there about spoilers, but I kept running into spoilers for Avengers and it was actually making me really angry. I think the problem, though, wasn't the spoilers alone but that the spoilers were so... negative. Whether it was about the movies or the actors or little things that in the long run shouldn't really matter, I felt like I was running into a lot of anti-squee. And that plus being spoiled really got my hackles up. Coming home I was very quick to defend anything negative anyone had to say about the movie (which was much, actually).

But, then, I kind of feel like there's been a lot of negativity towards movies in general. I mean, yes, people are entitled to their opinions. And, yes, there has been quite a bit of crap coming out, lately. But even previews and posters of movies get so much hate, sometimes. I remember watching a preview for this one movie that looked really intense and intriguing, and someone in the comments said right off the bat "this isn't going to be any good" and it really annoyed me. You haven't even seen the movie yet, dude!

I don't know. I think I'm just tierd of negativity in general where movies are concerned! AGain, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but some people get so... vicious about those opinions, and sometimes when all their being opinionated about isa  dang movie still. I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to movies (although I can be very picky where scary movies are concerned). I like being able to just turn off my brain, get caught up in the action and have a good time. I think it's high time I avoid any movie talk outside my journal.

Finally, some favorite scenes...

Vision picking up Thor's hammer.

Clint grumbling about Quicksilver.

Yeah; I actually regret, now, posting and talking as much as I did about the aspects of the movie that I didn't like, because it really only bugged me for a couple of days -- and, I think, it was mostly just on a "I don't see the characters this way" level, based on their characterizations in my head from the previous movies. Now that I've had time to adjust, I'm pretty okay with it and don't find myself dwelling on it ... at least when I'm not talking about it. XD (Which might result in your comment over there going unanswered; I'm not sure if I'm going back to that discussion or not.)

I think there's a powerful feedback cycle, with negative stuff especially, where writing it down makes it more concrete, and then your friends comment on it so you have to explain, debate, and/or commiserate with them, and so forth. Typically with movies and shows that aren't fandom things for me, I still notice the stuff I don't like, but I don't really think much about it afterwards, and usually I end up being okay with it in the long run. (Well, or else whatever-it-is makes me hate the movie forever, but that's only in extreme cases where a movie really did something awful or just turned out to suck.) But writing it all down at the height of my emotional reaction, and then having people discuss it with me, kind of cements it in my head and makes the negative worse.

So I'm going to try not to do that anymore. At least not as much.

On a side note, I had been spoiled for something major that actually made the movie better for me (which almost never happens) -- I knew someone died, but not who! So the final battle was INCREDIBLY tense, since I was pretty sure we were going to lose a character, but not which one.

The whole Clint and Quicksilver thing -- well, Clint and the twins generally ... and the farm ... actually, pretty much all the Clint was among the highlights of the movie for me, which really boggled me because I've never been a Hawkeye fan. But apparently I am now? I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENED. :D

It's a really fun movie, though! I think a lot of people's objections to it, like mine, just come down to having built up their own version of the movie and characters in their head, and then it didn't turn out to be what they were expecting, so they were upset. I expect the next Captain America movie is going to be the same way (if not worse).

Don't regret discussing something, even if it was something that only bugged you for a moment. They were interesting discussions for one, and for another it always help to write things out, even if they don't seem like a big deal later on ;) (and if you don't respond to my comment that's totally find. I mostly commented because I always find it interesting how we all view things differently).

Your review was actually a breath of fresh air since it was mostly squee. I think my real issue isn't the negativity I've been coming across toward Age of Ultron and other movies, but that people get so dang mean about how they express those opinions. There was this one comment thread I was reading in which people hoped Age of Ultron failed simply because they were annoyed with some of the actors.

I was spoiled as to who it was who died, and I kept cringing waiting for the moment to come. That said, even being spoiled for it it was still surprising and very sad.

Clint was so awesome in this :D I've always kind of liked Clint but this movie definitely sealed it for me. I like that he's pretty much coming across as the level-headed one of the group, and his pep-talk to Scarlet Witch was the best. I'm a major sucker for "forget about who you were then, what matters is who you are from here on in."

There's so much negativity everywhere; it's exhausting. I haven't seen the movie yet, but as a comic-book fan from a young age, I've rolled my eyes at a lot of the comments I've seen so far.

Adaptations take so much guff. Which sometimes I get (like when the adaptation barely resembles the source) but other times it's like people can't get it through their heads that not everything in the book/comic translates well on screen.
