Yay! Well done, well done. This was great. I loved McKay's neurotic hovering at the beginning, and then him at the end worried about losing more friends. I never thought about the fact that all the major characters in the show (even Ford) get killed or drastically injured while on Atlantis. With all the danger they face off world, that's got to mess with some heads. Thanks!! This was a great read.

This was actually inspired by something I went through with my cats. We live out in the country, and every time I made some new cat we got an outdoors cat, it would vanish. Which, in turn, left me rather paranoid about the health and well-being of my cats, turning the new kittens I got into indoor cats instead of outdoor.

Yeah, I know, not as big a deal as losing people. But the experience had me thinking a lot about loss, and how on the show - with all the people they've been losing and especially so soon (Carson then Elizabeth) that there would be paranoia about losing more. For Sheppard, I think it's always been there but he knows how to control it. For Rodney, he's still in the learning stage, so, yeah, it would affect him worse.

Sorry for the long explanation, but it was a concept I really enjoyed exploring.

I found incredibly funny the idea of John being 'almost' killed by a wheelchair, but the whump was delicious.
Rodney fussing with the blanket was hilarious too and it was a nice novelty to see John (reclutantly) accepting Rodney's hovering.

Thank you. And the "near-death by wheelchair" was meant to be a little funny. Poor guy can't even get a break when he's at home, stuck in a wheelchair.
