Someone who's willing to recieve stories of mine via e-mail from out of the blue and who can, if possible, clean a story up as soon as possible - and by as soon as possible I don't necessarily mean it has to get back to me the very same day. Though I'd prefer it, some stories may take longer to beta than others. I have a story at this very moment in need of a bit of beta'ing. Just a one-shot.

And, of course, being someone who likes returning the favor, I can be a permanent beta in return for whoever volunteers. You don't even need to ask, just send the story right over. The only story-types I won't read are slash, het, where something sexual is involved and Rodney-centric whump-fics. Nothing against McKay or McKay whump - I do like the guy and I do whump him a little from time to time (but Sheppard always gets the brunt). It's just, for various reason that I'll leave for another post (maybe, no promises unless you really want to know), I have the lowest tolerance for McKay-centric whump.

I'd would be most happy to if you'd like. If you prefer someone with more writing experience, I understand so don't feel obligated.

Thanks. All I need is someone to catch spelling mistakes I may have missed, along with anything that may be messing up the flow (a hard to read sentence, for example) and any inconsistencies with the show and characters.

What's you E-mail again? I thought I had it in my contacts but it isn't there.

I'm available, too. I suspect they'll be more give and take with Wildcat, as I'm not writing much these days, though, if that's a concern for you.

Thanks. I went with Wildcat since she commented first, but I'm also in need of a second beta for chapter and long-fics as I always need a second pair of eyes for those (In fact, I'm currently writing a chapter fic. But it's kind of slow going since I only work on it during the weekend.)

I would be honored, dearest.

Heh, thanks. I decided to go with Widlcat, though, since she was the first to comment. But I may take you up on the offer for future stories.

I'm always available--or will be, be once I get this last paper out of the way. (Last ever! Unless I do grad school.) Feel free to send stuff my way, any time, no need to ask first. You already have my email, I think.

Thanks :).
Heh. I hope no one takes it wrong, though. I really do like McKay and don't mind whumping him or him being whumped. But I tend not to like McKay in fanfic as many writers like to focus on his abrasive side. And there have been stories - written by McKay fans and even Shep fans alike - that have actually made me want to hit the guy (or get Sheppard to, though I've so far kept myself from giving into that temptation.)

When it's McKay-centric and McKay-whump, he seems to become even more insufferable.

Of course, that's only one out of many reason why I dislike McKay-whump. And I'm quite positive it's the same for McKay-fans when it comes to Shep-whump stories.
I'm with you on that one, I like McKay he is great for a laugh, but Sheppard is where it's at and where it should stay. I'm all about the shep whump. As a matter of fact i'm posting all the shep whump stories i've found on shepwhumpfinder but it's slow going as i've been very busy, but i'm also going to put in my search perameters so others don't have to go through all the tierless searching like I already have. I'll read het or gen, but don't care for the slash, or pre-slash just not my thing, although some of the searches have some slash in them. I'm all about the blind and deaf fic's for shep but like any when sheps the whumpee. Thanks for all your great stories!!!!
Heh. It's not so much McKay whump itself I have a problem with. It's more how insufferable many writers make him after the whump.

Also, and this is a little more complicated, I feel - personally - that McKay hurt and Sheppard angsting over it is kind of a given. What I mean by that is that Sheppard protects McKay, so when McKay gets hurt, of course Sheppard is going to worry. It's who Sheppard is. But when Sheppard gets hurt, I find the more socially inept McKay's response more interesting. We'd been made to believe, when McKay first appeared on SG-1, that he wasn't a people person and didn't care for anyone. Now, of course, we know that isn't true and have been shown his caring side in bits and pieces throughout Atlantis episodes. McKay is the kind of character who will go through the most character change, and I like being able to show that change in my stories, as well as read it.

However, I personally feel you don't really get that when McKay's the one being whumped. Maybe if he isn't the only one being whumped (or whumped because he saved Sheppard), but it's more obvious when it's Sheppard whumped and McKay made to worry. When McKay is whumped, in many stories I've come across, he tends to be kind of... snotty about it, I guess you could say. So if he went through any kind of a learning curve, you don't really see it. Plus, of course, McKay's rather smug on a daily bases. The man doesn't need more reasons to be smug about anything.

Heh, that's a good idea - start a community for the kind of fic you like. You should open it up for people to make recomendations. Just make sure to emphasize what the comminuty is about - what is accepted and what isn't - or people with recommend anything.

You know I agree I think you hit that one the head. I still really like shep whump the best cause that's just the kinda gal I am, but you make a good point. I started shepwhumpfinder so I could put my searches somewhere so others could share it and put their own in as well for my own selfish purposes. Any suggestions on how I could make it better? By the way, I've read some of your stories and they are good, have some on my searches. Have a great night!!
Do you have a link to your community? People usually won't check out a new community unles syou have a link to it on your journal or elsewhere, and I couldn't find one.
Ok I think I fixed it on my site, I was having the same trouble finding it with out going through my journel, but I'm new soo I assumed I just wasn't looking in the right place. Thanks for you helps, please let me know if and when you have time if you have other ideas thanks for everything.

I honestly would like to beta, but right now I just don't have the time. There's so much going on, and I sincerly doubt that I would be a really good beta. I'm sure that you'll get lots of voluneteers. (After all, you've had at least nine alreay!:D) Sorry, but I just can't.
