So much for sticking with a short story. I've been attempting to write a short, or at least kind-of-sort-of-short, tag to
a_pilgrim_soul's No Distance Left to Run, and I just don't think it's going to happen... er, the story being short, not the story itself. I really, really want to write what I have in mind but the plot keeps trying to turn into something long and chapter-like. And no matter how I try to replot, how I try to write, it just keeps on refusing to be anything but long and arduous.
I suppose I could do a short, sweet, semi-adventurous and cute version (blech!) But I've so been wanting to write something dark and heartwrenching, and Pilgrim Soul's story offered the perfect opportunity for such a plot. So short chapter fic it is, I guess *shrugs*
It just goes to show you - we don't do squat to the plot except think it up, it's the plot that bosses us around.

Roll with it!

You do a great job of bringing these characters and stories to life.
Let the plot bunnies take you where they want to go, they usually know where they're going. LOL

Date: 2008-07-03 06:46 am (UTC)From:The problem is, and the reason why I wanted this story to be as short as possible, is now I'm pretty much set for ideas. Besides the tag, there's a prompt on the SGA gen fic request I want to tackle, plus a fic-exchange prompt that's intrigued me. I've also been in the biggest mood to write Shep-whump and dark fic, so I've been getting all kinds of ideas for that. All of which takes a back seat to my original fic. I only write fanfci once or twice a week, usually on Friday and/or Satruday. The rest of the time is devoted to my original story, so it'll be a while before the fanfic are even written.

Speaking of shorter fics; Dark Places was a really good one!
I wish I had a good idea to toss out there, but I guess I'm pretty much useless.
I've just recently gotten up the nerve to actually post replies. I'm always afraid that what I have to say may not be well received or even wanted.
You've been very kind and candid and for that I thank you.
Good luck with your original fic!
