I was tired the other day, and bored, and tired, and this popped into my head and I wanted to try it out. Apologies if it's already been done.

Fic Meme

List one, three, or five of your favorite stories that you have written and why they are your favorite. Members of this author's flist: list one, three, or five of your favorite stories by this author and why they are your favorite. Then copy this meme and post it on your own journal for the same.

1. Hound of Hell You Cry - I tend to be one of those writers that dislikes most of what I write, but I like how this one turned out, epsecially the realtionship between Sheppard and Maj.

2. At his Fingertips - I can't explain why I liked it, maybe because it was my first Ronon/Shep/Ronon takes care of Shep friendship piece. I feel it has potential to be much more than it is, and one day I plan on fixing it up a bit more.

3. No Matter Where you Go, There You Are - the first AU that I was really happy with. It was also very difficult to write, and usually when a fic is being difficult it ends up being something I'm "meh" about. But I wasn't with this one. Plus abused Sheppard with trust issues - can't deny I'm a big 'ole sucker for it :D

4. Wrong End of a Leash - My first SGA fic, so of course it will always have a special place in my heart :D

5. Of Coloring Books and Lt. Colonels - because the inspiration for that was amusing - my sister and my sister's friend, both teenagers at the time, were coloring in coloring books because they were bored - and I'm still reeling over the reception that story got. I didn't think it would do so well, so was quite surprised. It was also fun to write :D

Och, picking only five of yours…that’s a toughie! On another day, the list might be different, but today…:

Little Man Sheppard (”http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3642119/1/Little_Man_Sheppard”) - Good kidfic is terribly hard to find, and I’m ridiculously fond of it, so this one HAS to be in my top five. I read it again once or twice a month, at the least.

Crash (”http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2936825/1/Crash”) - I adore the humor mixed with befuddled anxiety, and ‘sides, it’s Sherbet’s intro into SGA-verse. How could anyone not love that!

Zebras Bite Back (”http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3037909/1/Zebras_Bite_Back”) - Sheppard is just so Sheppardesque in this one! Irony, humor, angst, whump…gotta love it!

Siren (”http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4044447/1/Siren”) - A good Ronon taking care of Sheppard fic is always a treat, and this one is just so delightfully spooky, I can’t help but love it!

Wrong End of the Leash (”http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2674070/1/Wrong_End_of_a_Leash”) - I love the Sheplantis aspect of it, as well as Rodney’s conflicting emotions throughout and all the wonderful teasing-material the situation provides him.

This is interesting. For me, Little Man Sheppard comes in sixth because I liked how it turned out, but *shrugs* I felt it necessary to narrow the list to five. I also wish people did more kid-fic, but most tend to stay away from it and the only ones you can find are either slash, pre-slash or Rodney-centered. Not Counting the Teacher's Pet Series by Sepris, which was the inpsiration for LMS.

Zebras Bite Back - I'm surprised because it didn't really do well and I thought most were "meh" about it.

I'm going to put mine together but do you have an updated masterlist? I think the one on your LJ was updated last July and you stopped posting on ff.net.

Well, basically what I did (yes, to make it easy on myself because LJ is slow when you have dial-up and I'm lazy) you just hit the fanfiction tag and that narrows my journal down to all my stories, including the master list. What's on the master list are those stories not posted to my journal. Since giving up on FF.net and quitting Flash fic (it had become a bit of a distraction) I haven't posted anywhere else but my journal.

The problems with tags that it includes all the chapters to longer stories and makes scrolling long.

If you ever get bored, you can date your master list to the year 2020 and it keeps it as the first entry on your LJ and you can add fics to it as you post them and keep each story as one link.

I recall the dial up days and remember what a pain it was!

Glad you got to see season 4!!

Did you ever d/l S&R? I know even on dial up it only took a couple of hours.

How do you do this?

Never mind. Too early in the morning for my brain to function I guess. I figured it out.

You know how now? Just go to edit on the date, change the year and check off the date out of order box. That leaves it on top the entire time.

I couldn't stop at 3 or even 5....

1. Wrong End of the Leash – I adore this fic. John has an adventure where he makes friends with an alien, whose language he can’t even speak and barely communicate.

2. Castles in the Sky – John and the wraith queen. This never gets old. I loved how she kept referring to John as “Little One” and that she never seemed to want to kill him.

3. Freak – I loved this because I LOVE the thought of John with wings. I adore how you always write John. I love how he overcomes his terror and disgust at what’s been done to him to learn to fly, really fly. This one aspect is so integral to John’s personality that there’s a part of me that WANTS him to fly like this.

4. Little Man Sheppard – just plain love John as a child, even if he’s a child in his mind only. I also loved how Rodney was so protective of him.

5. Warm and Safe – the little creature was so cute the way you wrote it. I felt so scared for John. He was so terrified.

6. Zebras Bite Back – loved this. Can’t explain it. Just loved it. Loved John whumped.

7. Damaged – this was just so frelling well written that it’s still one of my favorites. I loved the John whump tremendously.
Okay, maybe my memory really is that shoddy, but I don't remember writing a fic called Damaged. What was it about?
Shit!

I have that fic in your 'file'! I have to go check... it's a fic about how John's team turns on him on a planet and almost kill him...

*checking* Damn! Obsessed1 wrote it. Gotta take it outta your 'file'...

Great fic though...

Very tough to choose and it changes:

In no real order--

"Zebras Bite Back"

I loved this story because first off I've always wanted to read about the effects of muliple stunnings on a person. However, I just loved the interlocking war with the Wraith in this. Both stuck, both trying to out do the other. A test of wills in a way and the big cat that John insisted in saving was just a nice bow.

This was just very unique.

"Of Coloring Books and Lt. Colonels"

This was just an amazing story. The trauma was off screen, this was all aftermath, dealing with the mental repercussions of torture. John has a breaking point and you achieved it...but the focus wasn't on brutality, but about putting the pieces back together. I was transfixed by what John was doing with the book and in the end when he had found a way back---the idea he used a children's toy as a coping mechanism, being the rules and blurring the lines over control was just awesome.

"Freak"

This was a beautiful premise. John with wings. Yet you delved deeper as usual. You dealt with how John had to realistically cope with the wings on a medical/ realistic bases. Then how his team rallied around him to help----and the final segment when they were lost. It was lovely.

"Siren"

Loved your Ronon POV. I'm a sucker for buddy stories and this one hit all my buttons. Ronon's frustration at trying to keep John alive, battling the storm, doing whatever it took to keep John alive through the night. It was just the right amount of protective/loyal Ronon that I love.

"A Cold Winter's Night"

I loved the imagery of this. Jumper bays with heaters, John cold and in need of warmth. Full of a subtle sweetness and sense of family. Plus did I mention the electric blanket?

"Little Man Sheppard"

The only kid fic that I've ever enjoyed because while cute, there was a real sense of depth to it. You always are creative yet retain a sense of realism that never goes cheesy.

:D

This is very interesting, because I considered Zebras Bite Back one of my less successful stories. Although I kind of blam that on formatting issues. When I first posted, part of the story hadn't shown up, and by the time I found out people were already reviewing (in fact, it was through the reviews that I found out.)

Coloring Books, I think, made me discover that, really, it's the aftermath of the whump that I like, not really the whump itself. The aftermath, I think, is where most of the heart is. During the whump you can find heart as well, but I feel it's at its strongest when all is said and done and the characters allowed time to think and react. just my opinion.

So many stories to choose from! This was hard because I really like a lot of your stories. My top 5 or so though...I'd have to say

1. Finding Peace of Mind - this is a heart wrencher, gets me every time
2. Hound of Hell You Cry - great whump, and loved Maj (and I normally don't find myself liking OC this much)
3. Not a Liability - very cool backstory
4. Parasite - John + bugs, how I love those types of stories
5. Wave Rider - because it doesn't get much better than surfing, and for someone who hasn't surfed before, I thought you captured the surfing parts pretty well.
6. Lost and Found - scary, scary snake creature...

I keep thinking of others I could add to the list. I better stop now or it will turn into my favorite 20 of your stories!

I'm only going to list three because so much has been said already but these are the ones that have stuck in my head the most.

1. Hound of Hell You Cry - I think just about everyone has picked this but it is one of your finest moments, I can remember being on the edge of my seat waiting for the next chapter and almost not wanting it to end, beautifully plotted with great OC's.

2. Jabberwocky - What I love about you is that you put you aren't afraid to combine fantasy with sci-fi, you create these fantastical worlds and insane stories yet still retain the heart of the characters.

3. Eternity - I just thought it was so haunting and tragic and once again you used your boundless imagination to create wondrous worlds and bizarre characters.

Hound of hell you cry - Same as Pilgrim, i too waited with baited breath for the next installment. I loved how to crafted the story and every chapter had been screaming for mre.

Faith - because i love John's determination that his friends were alive.

Of colouring books and Lt Colonels......Still makes me upset and such a lovely character piece.

I also love the Sheppard/Caldwell story where they are stuck under the city but the name escapes me at the moment. I thought it was such a great idea and two characters we rarely see interact. Lovely.

I could pick more but i'd probably end up cutting and pasting your entire story listings LOL!!!!

Eyes Wide Open is my favoritest of what you've written. The way he hallucinates to avoid the horror of what's happening to him. And the utter horror of what's happening.

Wayfarers is brilliant as one by one they find each other and keep each other safe during their struggle to get home.

Castles in the Sky was an incredible look at the Wraith and what makes Sheppard tick.

Eternity showed just how much can be out there and how far John would go to save those he loves.

And so many more....
