kriadydragon: (Shep 2)
On the end of SGA.

I knew it was coming and had a feeling that season five would be it, mostly because of all the talk of season four being the last season. Still, I had hoped otherwise, and the news was still a bit of a shocker.

SGA has been such a romp for me. Never have I gotten into a show as deeply as I have SGA, and it both saddens me and frightens me that it'll soon be over. Saddens me because - obviously - no more dorky heroes, no more future Shep-whump, no more team love, etc. Frightens me because so many of my fave shows that have left the air have taken my love of them with it. Shows that I was obsessed with and couldn't miss a single episode of I no longer have an interest to ever see again, and there have been some that have left me wondering why I had ever watched them to begin with.

But I refuse to let this happen with SGA, so all I can say is thank goodness for fandom, fanfic, dumping ideas I can't use for original fic on fanfic, dumping whump I can't use in original fic on Sheppard, and DVDs. This show will not fade away for me, consarnit!

And I don't think it will, not for a long time. And if it does, I doubt it'll be one of those show I look back on and think "meh" or "why did I ever like this to begin with?" SGA to me is like the original Star Trek is to my older brother (who loved Star Trek as a kid and still loves it, and he's coming up on forty years of age.)

I have been off the computer since Monday. Just completed a move to the big O while T.S. Fay dumps water all over east central Fla. and now this. Ugh. Well, long live fanfic and fandom. We shall persevere!
