kriadydragon: (cartoon peril)
I need angst - Sheppard wounded and team angsting over him kind of angst. Hurt/comfort, John in pain, lots and lots of worry, no gut wounds, no humiliation, no Sheppard getting a needle to his back-side. No funny!.

I've been wanting to write some SGA - possibly start the prologue to my chapter fic since my original is so close to being finished. However, I fear a week of nothing but Dr. Who has gotten me a tad out of sync with SGA. I need to immerse myself in the episodes and especially fic. Reading fanfic usually helps get me into the mood to write, but as of late the majority of whump stories has been humor, humiliation, poor attempts at writing humor, being humorous when the story should really be angsty, and very slow WIPs with excrutiatingly short chapters and barely any whump.

Don't get me wrong, I like the occasional comedy, but I'm an angst/H-C fan wanting to write an angsty, H/C, whump story. So I needs me some angsty whump to get me back in the mood. Anyone have any particular favorite stories of the Shep-whump-angst variety they could steer me toward? New stories they've come across? I'm not kidding. I need help getting back into the SGA mindset and especially the mindset needed to write this story.

I'll be posting something in an hour or two for the comfort challenge,(um so it IS more of a comfort fic than anything) but I'm also desperate for some new whump! I haven't seen anything new of late.

So you better get that mojo back! :-P

Two weeks to the H/C challenge and we'll have lots of new stuff to read!!

Hey, I'll take anything that doesn't end with John getting laughed at - either by the team or the readers. :P It normally wouldn't be a big deal, but I was thoroughly distracted from SGA and now I'm having trouble finding my way back.

Heh, I'm also counting the days until the H/C challenge :D

Is this the comfort challenge you're talking about, or a different H/C challenge that I haven't heard about? I too have been craving some good whump fic to help get me back into a writing frame of mind. :)

Obsessed101 Has "Trust' its still posting but I know the story is complete.

Also I think you read "On the Road to Come What May"

by Eildon Rhymer. Right? great outsider's POV.

Thanks!:D Yep, read Rhymer's story.

Yes, there is Trust, thankfully. There have been a "few" whump stories here and there, but nothing I'd shake a stick at. There's this one I've been kind of reading (and don't know why) that so far keeps trying to lean toward humor, and may eventually turn het. It's mostly been Shep out of commission then Shep having rather embarrasing things done to him and, yeah, not a big fan of that :(.

Interesting you should request this just now. Partly because I've been craving the same thing and partly because I was hit with an idea earlier today that I've been plotting out all day. Which is funny because I'm smack dab in the middle of about 6 projects already and can't get time to work on any of them. If I had a free batch of time I'd whip this one together for you. I started to give you the main plot, but I don't know if that would help or make it worse. Try looking up some of your favorite authors and browsing their stories. Sometimes you find a jewel you haven't read in a while to satisfy your craving. That's what I generally do.

Heh, yeah, I don't think giving me the plot would be a good idea. I'm barely keeping my sanity waiting for the H/C fic exchange stories ;)

I've been trying to come up with one-shots myself, but I'm still having trouble with that. The stories I have come up with I'm saving or have saved for upcoming ficathons, so the one-shot well is currently dry for me :/

I have been looking up favorite authors and stories. The only setback is that my Internets been slow and FF.net - where most of my fave stories are - is acting the slowest of all.

Have you read [livejournal.com profile] jadesfire2808's big bang fic. “Resonance” (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/index.php?view=fic&id=21). ?

That's long and plotty with lots h/c elements.

I'd also give [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper and [livejournal.com profile] naye 's A Clear and Different Light (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=53). a read.

Its AU and 90,000 words. Now its a team fic and its got H/c in it, but that's not the main focus at all. However, it was awonderful world building story that totally grabs you.

It is labeled slash but out of 90k it doesn't have a hint of it until like the last few scenes. I think you'd love it.

Thanks! I did read Jadesfire's story. I wasn't particularly happy with Rodney in that one. I felt he was coming off as a bit of a jerk but, then, I might have been reading into it wrong, I don't know.

Friendshipper's and Naye's story I've been avoiding for reasons of slash, but since you say it isn't prevalent, I may give it a chance. I've been wanting to, I just didn't trust how much slash was involved so it's made me hesitant.

Although it's older, don't know if you've read it.

Definite Shep whump and angst from team

hope it helps!

Oh, excellent. Hope it helps. I love your whump fic!

Congratulations, btw, on being so close to finishing your original fic. I find that hard to write sometimes. I've got all these ideas, but there's so much background/world-building that you have to do first...SGA is like a gift - it's all set up for you to play with.

Date: 2008-09-16 04:57 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
Thanks :)

World-building is what I love about writing. Heh, half the time I have more fun building the world needed for the stories than writing the stories.

Yes, I so do agreee with you! I am opening the fanfic site every morning and evening hoping against hope that I will find some good story, and I just keep getting disappointed! But you are a very good/brilliant writer, so you should try to cheer us (and yourself) up with some good/dark/serious Shep whump/angst!
Please!

I'm trying, I'm trying! The problem is I have all these ideas, but they keep turning into chapter fic. The only one shot I've completed is for the H/C Challenge fic exchange, so I won't be able to post it until October.

I just need to complete the original fic. Once that's done, then I can tackle some nice, long shep-whump :D

Have you read NT's 'Where the Buffalo Roam'?

Date: 2008-09-16 05:03 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
I started reading it, but I've been hesitant about it because I know she's a McKay whumper and I've been in need of straight-up Shep-whump. And when in need of Shep-whump, reading McKay whump tends to make me... well, kind of jealous. thus my hesitation.

Date: 2008-09-16 05:09 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] nebbyjen.livejournal.com
She nailed the entire team in this one. There was one chapter where Shep was the main target (I think it was the second.) which was pretty good and the injury stayed with him the rest of the fic. But true, Rodney might have gotten a smidge more than Shep overall.

Congrats to Kriadydragon! Can't wait until you're able to write Shep-whump chapter fics again. You write some amazing stories.

Um, this may be a dumb question, but where do I find NT's 'Where the Buffalo Roam' It sounds interesting if it's got some Shep whump in it. I'm not as big on Rodney whump and even less so with Teyla, but if it's got some decent shep-whump in it I'm game.
