Like a lot of ficcers I have a growing list of unfinished stories. Most of them I'm pretty sure I'm never going to finish but there are a few that I would really like to complete one day. While other stories I would like to give away to those might have more luck with them. I'm hoping that by listing the stories I want to finish it will motivate me to give the poor things an ending
Fics I will one day finish:
Second Chances - I'm pretty sure I started writing this for someone, but I can't remember who. Sheppard - kidnapped, enslaved and under the belief that his team is dead - is rescued by a group of monks. While he heals, he comes to learn of the secret the monks are so carefully guarding, and a plan that could mean death for everyone. But this knowledge puts John in terrible danger. And is his team really dead? The story started off well then hit a brick wall around the middle. I know what I want to happen and how I want the story to end, but I haven't been able to work out how to get to that ending.
Untitled SGA/Undying fusion - You don't need to know the game Undying to understand this story. I needed an alternate dimension and so borrowed one from Undying. In this AU, Sheppard is the sole survivor of a world shattered and twisted by a magical world. He's rescued and brought back to our world, but is it a mistake. Is John too powerful, and will what happen in his world will happen in ours? I jumped into this story without planning it out. I have several ideas of what I want to do and where I want it to go and haven't been able to pick one, yet.
Abandoned Hope All Ye who enter Here - Meant to be a Halloween story in which Sheppard is separated from his team during a Wraith attack. He seeks shelter in a grand mansion that seems devoid of any occupants... or is it? What becomes a fight for survival against a Wraith becomes a fight against something far worse. I kind of lost interest in this story as it was getting longer than I intended, but I would like to finish it as it as an excellent creepy factor. I doubt it will done in time for Halloween, though :/
Untitled Sheppard with Amnesia - This initially started as a request for "slave Sheppard with amnesia" but decided to become something more. And that's all I want to say about it because I don't want to give anything away. This one will definitely be finished. I only set it aside to work on projects I had committed myself to.
Untitled tag to Friendshipper's pirate story - this one will not let me write it! Even though I know what's going to happen!
Sequel to Dream Eater - This, too, will be written!
Stories I want to give away. If anyone likes the sound of these stories and would like to read them and finish them, please let me know. First come, first serve, though. Also, because these stories started off as gen I would really like them to stay gen.
The Thief Queen - AU. Elizabeth Weir and Teyla Emmaggen are the leaders of a band of thieves. They have just captured Kolya's chief scientist Rodney McKay, who escaped the cruel Kolya with the help of an abused slave, John Sheppard. This was indulgence of the purest form that wasn't going anywhere in particular. I don't plan on finishing it as it was only written on a whim. But if others would like to tackle it, I will be happy to hand it over.
Imaginary Friend - John keeps seeing a woman that only he can see. At the same time, he suffers a string of accidents that injure him. Rodney suspect something is up. I'll admit it, I got bored with this story :P
Tag to "No Matter where you go, There you Are" - I was going to continue with this universe as a big, grand epic but I really didn't want to. I like the story as is, and the epic was proving too difficult one chapter in.

Date: 2010-10-09 01:32 am (UTC)From:On looking over my list I am starting to think that stories get up up in the late middle section because that is sort of the plot crunch and my overall plot ideas exceed my energy level for working it out. I need to take a plot crunch course.
Apart from the secret santa - I have picked to to round off more immediately - namely the wing fic and the short horror. And then of course there is original stuff.
Sometimes, too many ideas kill productivity, I think.

Date: 2010-10-09 04:54 am (UTC)From:I'm thinking that's my issue as well. The longer a story gets, the less I want to work on it, especially if my motivation was struggling to begin with. And it's usually when things start getting more complicated that I loose interest.

Very true. The more story ideas I try to tackle, the less desire I have to write.

Date: 2010-10-09 07:21 am (UTC)From:*squeee* You have no idea what you (you in: all you authors) do to me when you post such things...
I'll sit here and wait patientely for "Second Chances" (OMG, alone from the summary - this will be a fic I'll adore and read again and again and again), the Undying fusion (I'm a sucker for powers!John), amnesia!John (*hugs fic already*) and a Sequel to "Dream Eater" (I think I've died and ended up in heaven).
Um, friendshipper has a pirate story? 8o *is off looking for it*
And, please, please, please, kriaydragon's muse - be cooperative and let her write these fics! *offers cookies the size of the moon*
And, dear muse, if you would let kriadydragon or somebody else write "The Thief Queen" and a tag to "No Matter where you go, There you Are" you get cookies in the size of the solar system. :)
*sneaks out*

I'm doing a tag for story one.
I think I may just post what I have of The Theif Queen and see if there are any takers, as I have no real desire to finish it. I just wrote it to get a bit of indulgence out of the way.

What exactly is standing in the way - I mean plot-wise? Perhaps somebody from your f-list has an idea and might be able to come up with inspiring ideas?

Date: 2010-10-12 06:50 pm (UTC)From:I also think it's because the story wasn't turning out how I wanted it. I wanted a creepy mystery, with monks going missing and some of them ending up dead, but the story ended up taking a different turn and I lost interest. It's not that what I have now doesn't work, but it's not what I really wanted so I may have to rethink things.
