I'm pretty sure most of the people on my f'list are either busy writing away or just busy so may not even read this. But I felt like writing it, anyway.
NaNo Novel - It has begun and I am two thousand plus words in. I know what happens next, so hopefully tomorrow will see as easy a writing spree as today. I am a bit concerned, though, as writing seems to really wear me out. Not a big deal unless it means being prematurely burned out further down the rode. I recall being hesitant about simply editing one of my stories because it made me so tired afterwards.
Eating Out - WE ate at what I have now deemed the best seafood restaurant ever. It's called the Bonefish Grill and though it doesn't offer a lot on the menu, what it does offer is to die for (I actually finished everything on my plate), and it makes Red Lobster look like a fast food joint.
Fandom Woes - the White Collar fandom is starting to frustrate me. Okay, so it was inevitable as most fandoms end up frustrating me, but each in a different way. The WC fandom is still a pretty young fandom since the show is only two seasons in, but it's starting to look like how the SGA fandom is looking now - lots and lots of pairing fic and well written gen that is few and far between. All things considered, it's not a big fandom, and I don't know if that's because the fandom is still young or we just aren't getting a lot of writers. Most of the writers all ready there go in one of two directions - well written but focused on a pairing, or focused on whipping out stories as quickly as possible. And fanon kinks have taken over hard and fast. If it's not OT3, it's adult discipline, most especially non-sexual spanking. I try to be open minded and understanding of other people's kinks, but there are some I have to draw a line at and spanking is one of them.
One thing I would really like to do is create a Gen Comment fic Community. Right now the most popular WC community seems to be the Kink Meme and, well, though it does inspire some gen stories obviously what you're going to get with that is a lot of kink. So (for purely selfish reasons ;)) I would like to start up a gen meme. But I'm hesitant since the majority of LJ writers all lean toward pairings and porn, while most of the gen writers are on FF.net, so I'm not sure if the community will catch on. But I suppose there's no harm in trying. I may do this after November.
Fic - Yeah, pimping my own fic again for any who might have missed it. I wrote a little SGA Halloween story - Beastly Things. Bit of a Conversion tag with lots of Shep Whump. Poor boy. I'm so mean to him. Bwhahahahaha!

Date: 2010-11-02 01:25 pm (UTC)From:So many action adventures series.. with a myriad of possible storylines from aliens landing and eating our faces, to criminals stealing the main characters liver and he/she has to find it again.. And what do people want to see/read.. the main characters going at it like rabbits, in what ever way the writer feels neccesary.
:/
I would be interested in a Gen fic community if only so that I can garantee that I will have writting I can read at work.

Date: 2010-11-02 07:07 pm (UTC)From:**NODS*** been there, done that, and it is very annoying, e.g. there was a Sheppard and Lorne ff which started out quite good but
then at the end it was real slash and there had been no warning.
(I noted later she applied one.)
What really got me was after what happened they both returned to Atlantis like nothing had happened.
Sorry, but that does not work for me.......it reflects naivety on the part of the writer, but what is more troubling to me personally is
Lorne happens to be XO of the Atlantis military expedition which means he must continue to work with Sheppard, and given what happened, that is no longer possible due to morale issues. Also it means a court martial if he reports what happened to SGC.
I know. I am looking at it in reality not from a fiction view point, but given my background, I really can't help it.

Date: 2010-11-02 06:58 pm (UTC)From:I try to avoid sex scenes like the plague (and in fanfic, pairings). But the times I've ran into it, maybe it's just me, but most of the time it was very out of place. Granted, there are times when even I have to admit that, yes, there is a purpose even if I don't like it (and skip it). But a lot of times my first thought is "they could have done without that." (Don't get me started on crude humor.)
One of my biggest pet peeves is a random sex scene at the worst possible time. The characters are captured and trapped, there's a good chance they may die soon, but rather than find a way out they decide to get it on.
