Well, surprise, surprise, I liked it. Of course you're not surprised. It's not Oscar worthy or anything, but it's fun, and intense, and action packed, and has an excellent concept that makes you think. And even if you're not sympathetic to the main characters you're still sympathetic to the situation.

I was a little hesitant to watch this at first, mainly because Matt Bomer plays - once again - a character who dies (seriously, what is with him, playing so many characters who bite the dust?) And because Justin Timberlake, though a decent enough actor I think (not great, but decent) still has such a teenage boy vibe to him. Which isn't his fault. He's just one of those people that's going to look very young for a very long time, and right now it's easier to see him as someone just coming out of his teens rather than someone nearing thirty or so (in fact, the scene where he's crying, his voice sounds like he's just hitting puberty).

But despite all that, both Justin and Matt did an excellent job, I felt. Matt's character was wonderfully sympathetic. We're never given an exact story as to what led him to want to die. In fact, we don't even know him for very long. And yet when the moment of truth comes it was sad. Very sad.

And I loved, loved, loved Justin's character being a good guy just for the sake of it. That, not even knowing Matt's character (yeah, suck at remembering names and too lazy to look them up), he saves him anyway, basically earning all of Matt's character's time for simply being that good guy. And when he's running to stop Matt's character from dying, that just broke my heart. And then, of course, there's what comes next ;) Kindness buttons were more than sufficiently pushed with this movie :D

This also made me want to see Matt in a starring role in a movie, playing a character who doesn't die... and who isn't a stripper :/ He has a lot of potential to play some interesting characters, especially someone who's down and out.

Thanks for the review. I have been wanting to see this movie because Matt was in it, but just haven't yet...I think it is going to the top of my Netflix queue:)

I saw it a couple of weeks ago and I liked it too. Matt did look might fine in it. I think his character's reason for wanting to die was two-fold: 1. He was over 100 and he was tired, and 2) he felt guilty over how many people were dying so that he could have as much time as he did.

I actually like Justin Timberlake. He's not in my top ten or anything but I've always thought he did a nice job in the films I've seen him in. I've never thought of him as looking young either (not like Leonardo DiCaprio or Elijah Wood) but I can see your point. And I'm in total agreement with your assessment of his character in the movie. Unusual to see altruism.

I saw a picture of Matt B in his stripper role. Honestly, it's almost enough to make me go see the movie. :D
