I hear you. I have never had anything remotely resembling a tan. I burn, blister and peel. Even SPF 50 and up barely allows me to sit outdoors after the height of the sun has passed - and that would be under shade. I once got a sunburn sitting in my living room because I fell asleep near the window and the drapes were open.
I also had a heat exhaustion/heatstroke episode at an amusement park ending up in me being removed from the place on a stretcher. However, I did wonder if a contributing factor (other than heat and humidity) was my heavy use of high SPF sunblock. I wonder if it prevented adequate heat evaporation. I know I was drinking a lot so that was probably not as big a factor.
My skin is resistant to everything. I was in Hawaii once. My friend from college and I went to the beach everyday. Around 8 am we started towards the beach, but on the third day this man stopped me and said to please stop... That is was embarrassing. He'd watched us walk past for 3 days and I was still untanned... By the end of 7 days, I had a lovely Hawaiian tan. It took floating on the surface of Hanauma Bay (coral and snorkling) to force my skin to change color...
ROTFL. Oh yes, you have my empathy. So very much. As I have often said, my own skin only has two settings: "ghost" or "toast". I either look like I've not spent so much as an hour outside in my life, or... bright red.
Considering my grandpa's history with skin cancer and his dire warnings, I don't really spend time deliberately tanning, but still... would be nice to manage a bit less blinding whiteness without going straight to tomato. XD

My skin still won't change voluntarily...
