Fic Exchange, take two

Believe it or not I'm doing this because I'm in dire need of an idea for some Shep-whump. I'm working on the next chapter for Wayfarers and am half-way through, but I've been having trouble with it and the lack of Shep getting whumped in it doesn't help (he doesn't get whumped until next chapter). I've been trying to come up with a few Shep-whump one-shots but I can never get an ending for them. Either that or they end up not being a one-shot.

Anyways, someone give me an idea. Nothing vague such as "Shep being tortured." Give me some plots to work with, something rather unique if possible. In return, I'd like someone to do a tag to Irresistable that involves Sheppard having a negative reaction to being given the phermone. Maybe Sheppard is still taking medication for his cold and the phermone reacts to it. Or maybe it reacts to the cold virus itself, making Sheppard sicker or insane or something. There really aren't a lot of Irrisistable whumpy tags and there was such potential for them. I'd actually thought of one but couldn't figure out an ending.

Have you read ltlj's story Inescapable? It's an alternate ending to that episode with lots of whump, although not due (directly) to the pheromone.

Wish I could give you something for the whump, but I'm no good at that sort of story. All I can come up with is stairs. (So many ways to fall down them!) Or falling and catching himself wrong so he screws up his hands/wrists. My mom did that once, and it took weeks for her to heal up enough to do much of anything (she couldn't even do up her own buttons).

Inescapable and one other story that's a WIP are the only ones of a whumpy-tag nature I've found. Kodiak Bear did a good one as well, but most went for a more comedic route. Oh, and one turned it around making it a Rodney whump-tag which kind of ticked me off as I felt that was Shep's whump potential. Kind of like if someone took the Tao of Rodney and turned it into Shep whump. I just feel that if it's a particular character's episode, then it should be that character's whumpy tag.

I've always wanted to see a shipwreck. The team comes through the gate (which can't be accessed by jumper). The governing council is on another continent/island, and they have to take a ship to get there. A raging storm blows them off-course, and the ship breaks apart. Whump of your choice - almost drown, broken bones, head trauma, excessive bleeding, all of the above. :)

Of course, feel free to completely ignore this if you don't like it.

Oh. I like the idea but it sounds like something that would turn into longer than a one-shot. I'll have to see what I can come up with. I'll let you know whether I can or can't.

I have a Shep whump idea and an Irresistible tag idea to exchange, but considering my track record for finished SGA fics, I'd better see how much /i can manage to write over the weekend before offering up the whump idea.

That's cool. Go ahead and give me the idea to see if I can work with it. If I can't I need to let you know. Since the slave fic kind of jaded me the muses have been acting rather rebellious. I get ideas but not the desire to write them.

Here's the idea:

The team gate to a feudal like society that uses a plant that makes people happy and compliant to keep it subjects producing for the kingdom, despite the horrendous state the monarchy leave them in. The team eats some and become willing servants of the realm, but John for some reason doesn't eat any, and then, after a brief struggle to escape his own team, he has to keep from being captured and imprisoned, while trying to convince his team to rejoin him, all while unable to eat because the only thing readily available is the mind-controlling food. He can't contact Atlantis for help because Rodney removed the control crystals to prevent John bringing in a team of Marines to force the team to return to Atlantis. Atlantis doesn't try to make contact, either, because Rodney told them every thing was fine and reenables the gate to check in times he's specified so they won't get nervous.

Huh. I'd actually thought up something similar once. It was a John and Rodney friendship fic, where they're stucck on a planet where the food is tainted by a chemical that makes the inhabitants emotionally unstable. Rodney has to eat because of his hypoglycemia. John, however, refrains from eating. Because of the chemical, Rodney gets violent toward John, angry that he's starving when all he needs to do is eat. But withdrawal from the chemical is severe and can be deadly. So it's all a rock and a hard place for them.

The thing is, I still want to work with idea (not to say I can't do both). I think I might be able to do something with yours if I can keep it a one-shot. That's been the problem with my ideas as of late, they keep turning into chapter fic.

I wrote an Irresistible tag fic as part of my A World of Hurt series... it's not mega-whump as the series tries to stay close to canon but I put rather more emphasis/built up on the whump he did suffer during the ep.

As for a oneshot idea... of the top of my head, how's about this?

Whilst exploring an uninhabited planet, Shep and another member of the team (your choice) fall into an overgrown, abandoned well. The walls are too sheer to climb out and the water is too deep to reach the bottom standing up. The other person who falls in with Shep is knocked unconscious by the fall and he has to keep their head above water until one of the remaining two team members can get back to the gate and bring back help. There is maybe a small ridge along the wall under the water that Shep can just about stand/balance on or a small crevice in the wall that he can jam a hand in to try and hold himself and the other person above the water but the water is freezing cold and as time goes on he is getting cold and shivery and numb and the strain of holding on is making his muscles tremble and ache and he's struggling to keep them both above water but he has to and he refuses to give up. End it with either them being rescued or even Shep losing strength and slipping under the water just as help arrives... and waking up in the infirmary, with his first concern being for his team-mate because he let them down by not keeping them above water.

Detailed enough plot idea for ya? Ending planned and everything so shouldn't spiral out into another WIP.
